New House

Del and I bought a new house yesterday as we plan to move to a corner lot on the Ocean Estates island we live on…our neighbor Evane is going to take our old lot to add to her estate. A new lot so why not a new home too? Del said I could pick the house so I teased him a bit about wanting a SpongeBob giant pineapple to live in or a volcano with free heat and fumes, I don’t think he took me seriously. We looked a quite a few in world before I spotted this beauty on SL Exchange http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=670698 we went to see the model in world and Del liked it right away.

What drew me to it initially was the hanging vines and what was the first thing Del said when he saw the house, “I love the vines!”  Scarey how much we think alike really.  I know he thinks I don’t disagree with him enough…just go along with whatever he wants but to disagree more I would have to disagree just for the sake of disagreeing.  That would be just all wrong to do, so I don’t.  Are we too much alike?  I don’t know but it hasn’t caused any issues so far.  I rather like the way our relationship has progressed naturally and seemingly effortlessly.  No arguing, no strife of any kind…it just a very welcome change for me.  Its relaxing to be able to just log on and spend some happy time with him, I know I look forward to it especially if I have had a bad day otherwise.  After a bad day, he’s a calming and soothing presence for me and I can be all relaxed in minutes just by being with him.  A definate plus in a Second Life partner!

After the new house is set up, I’m sure we will have more shopping to do as some features in our old house were built in like the hot tub and the kitchen but even shopping is easy with Del as we generally like the same kinds of things.  He hasn’t picked out anything I haven’t liked except for the Hillary Clinton flag which he got just to rattle me a bit (I like Obama better). I fixed that by buying a house spider…and gave him the choice…if the flag stays then the spider stays…  He put the flag back into inventory and thus the spider went too.  Problem solved with a bit of humor!  Now back to packing…

Laurel’s Pick of Places to Go – Blarney Stone Irish Bar

The Blarney Stone

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dublin/80/80/25/

The Blarney Stone is one of my most favorite places in Second Life.  Join the group to get notice of events all over all the Dublin sims!  Frequent events range from coffee hours for chat and meeting new friends to DJ and live music events beamed from Ireland and England.  A very friendly staff and regulars will make you feel at home in no time at all.  Most conversations take place in general chat so you can jump right in….instead of just sitting there while everyone else talks via IM.  A cozy atmosphere and Guiness on tap just makes this place even better.

If you are new to Second Life it’s an especially nice first hangout as the crowd is easy to talk to so you won’t be a stranger long.  If you are looking for a “meat market” atmosphere, look elsewhere as rude, obnoxious people can be ganged up on by regulars with razor sharp wit.  If you want a place where you will be treated with respect and friendship then look no further.  I like to drop in while waiting for Del to log in as it is one place I do feel quite safe from being hassled in Second Life. If it should happen, I have plenty of back up. *smiles*  The crowd here isn’t only Irish but frequented by others from all over the UK and Europe plus plenty of Americans.

Stop in at the Blarney for a pint or two and do take a walkabout the Dublin sims and soak up the scenery, they are quite lovely and detailed.
