Heard from Del
I got an email today from Del, he’s back safe from Mexico where he got lots of sun. Now he’s on the East Coast of America for the last part of his vacation, so I should hear from him at least by email till he gets back to England. This will be his stuff himself with American doughnuts and Gourmet Jelly Beans segment of his vacation.
This being apart for vacations bit has been harder than I anticipated. As they say you never know how much you will miss them till they are gone, that has been so true. Even with keeping busy, time is passing more quickly but I miss him so much. He’s my right hand in Second Life and it’s not the same without him. I’ve grown used to his constant presence in my Second Life so doing anything alone now is not like doing things with him. We are really two of a kind, a complete pair so it’s hard but not so hard that I would consider a temporary replacement. Del will be back soon. I’ll have lots of projects completed to show him when he gets back and even more to talk about.
Second Life Education – Crated Classes
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Atlantic%20Cove/140/54/21/
Crated Classes like Tutorials 2 Go that I raved about before is a place you can buy a tutorial project and then build it right at the store in the provided sandbox, at the sandbox of your choice or take home with you to work on as you have the time. All needed materials are right in the box for you to work at your own pace. It’s a great way to learn some new skills and maybe build something for your Second Life home or store in the process. I’ve tried a few from this store and found them to be complete and pretty easy to work through so I can recommend.
Second Life Education – TUi NEO University
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Technical%20User%20interfacing/102/225/21/
I’m taking my own advice today and attended my first class at TUi NEO University in Second Life. I took a Lvl 2 class which I think was a bit harder for me. I managed to complete the project but think I will take at least one Lvl 1 class before doing that again. Classes fill up fast so arrive early to ensure your spot.
To attend a class, check out the class schedule board and when the class opens it will appear below with a teleport spot next to it. Touch the teleport to be moved to the classroom. Once at the classroom, find a square mat on the floor or chair next to a mat and stand on it till the class begins. Most of the lvl 1 classes are free..some require a nominal fee like 10L. My first class was taught by a cuddly rabbit so I slipped her some extra lindens after class to cover her carrot expenses. Lvl 1 classes are designed for those with little to no building experience where as Lvl 2 classes are more advanced. I was feeling cocky I think after making my first heeled shoes last night so started with a Lvl 2. Make sure you grab the provided supplies before the class starts. Look for something that resembles a lantern or tip jar and touch it for a folder of supplies. You will want to keep Local Chat History window during lessions so you can refer back to chat if needed. Each class lasts about an hour.
Now excuse me as it is time to start my cuddle couch class! TUi NEO University is also looking for teachers, if you are looking for a SL job. They will teach you what you need to know.
Laurel’s Shopping Pick – Lemania Indigo Design

The teleport takes you to a gathering of buildings stuffed with treasures to discover at Lemania Indigo Designs. Be sure to take the swan ride to discover the treasure at the end. A hint: Look for a rock. The retirement home has some outfits for only 50L. Check out the Bugles building for 100L outfits. The art deco building has some very stylish gowns and some shoes. The whole sim here is a shopping trove! Wander about and explore the buildings to see what you can find. I teleported away with about 10 new outfits so I’m sure you will find plenty too.

Just a Note
Just a note to let you know I’m back safe from vacation back home in Michigan. My modem was still under warranty so a new replacement from AT & T was on the steps waiting for me when I pulled in tonight. After some sleep I’ll be back here. {{{HUGS}}}
What To Do When the Partner is Away
Well, Del has now officially started his vacation and it is just me now. This doesn’t mean rushing off to the singles clubs or a great time to start hanging out at the nude beaches so it’s best to keep busy. Having my own vacation will help but that will still leave a week and some days to fill.
It’s a great time to do some RL cleaning and organizing things you might have put off before. Catch up on your reading, watch a movie on tv..you know some of those things you did before you had a Second Life. Spending bonus time with the RL spouse, friends or family can be a fantastic use of this time too.
In Second Life there are other things to do too. Have you always wanted to take a class to make a few things for yourself but had been putting it off before? Try the events tab of seach and select education to see if anything interests you. Pick up a tutorial project to take home or attend a class at Tutorials 2 Go. Learning some new skills can also translate into some Lindens if you later open a small shop or rent a cart to sell your wares. You can make things just for yourself or gifts for friends too. It can also help you just understand more about how things work in Second Life, which can make it easier when trying to trouble-shoot a problem with clothing or objects. I know for me it helps when Del and I need to be away from each other…I just go make something new for my shops. It keeps me busy, out of trouble and makes me a few Lindens all at the same time. Keeping busy with projects will also give you more to talk about when you are together again.
There are so many alternative things you can do that you really don’t need to go looking for trouble with the excuse, “Well…you weren’t here.” We all have real lives so can’t be in Second Life 24/7, there will always be times when that special person isn’t available. Spending that time in contructive ways that won’t harm your relationship is up to you. It’s always much easier to stay true when not around temptations, better just not to put yourself in those situations.
The Eagle Has Landed
Del Hotaling: the eagle has landed and its 100 degrees. but air con is great. take care see you soon xxx
He made it safe from England to America, next on to Mexico! He wanted the heat we had been having in the States, sounds like he found that too.
A Change
I have decided not to post anything about the Costa Rica sims for awhile because this isn’t a Costa Rica sims blog but an SL blog and I think too much has been posted about them lately (I’m guilty). I’m no longer available for Costa Rica sim tours either. So on to some other places to cover and other issues to talk about and I think most of our readers will enjoy a change of pace. Thanks for sticking with me the past few days. *winks* I know it couldn’t have been easy on you. *smiles* I believe Veronique is going to continue to post about the Miss Costa Rica Pageant (her standings at least) so you can check her blog out or the Costa Rica website from my links section for more on that.
Monday, I will fufill a promise I made to wait for that day before doing what I have planned. It’s nothing huge or earthshaking I promise. (Rainbow, it isn’t a SL divorce so no worries there). I’ll be back later with something new for you to read.
