Laurel’s Picks of Places to Go – La Cantina
In the Costa Rica Shopping District, a new little Cantina has opened. It’s a cute little place very well textured and built.
Saturdays starting at 11pm SL Time the pianist PM Bookmite appears.
Wednesdays starting at 7pm SL Time is the guitarist CQ Bravin for your listening pleasure.
Don’t miss these live music events in Second Life for something different to attend and enjoy the music.

Laurel’s Picks of Places to Go – Breezy Shores
I don’t know how long this place has been around but I like the set up of it. I visited in the wee hours of the American morning so can’t gauge at all the amount of traffic it gets. It’s a romantic series of dance floors surrounded by high stone walls on two sides and shops on the others. A good variety of dances available including some new to me. Like the circle dance? Check out the little curtained enclosure to share a kiss or two. I also spotted two argue poseballs…I guess we know their function. I’ll have to catch Del in a rare bad mood to fully give those poseballs a test. *laughs*
Plenty of room to spread out for a bit of privacy while you enjoy dancing. Slow Radio was the music playing when I arrived to scout out this location. It’s a pleasant relaxing atmosphere to enjoy with someone very special or get to know someone new. A nice alternative to the jazz clubs and dress can be casual or formal depending upon your mood. Some new Greek dances here you can try with a group of friends or with newly made ones.
Laurel’s Picks of Places to Go – La Moda Jazz Club
I got a sneak peek of the NEW La Moda Jazz Club before it opened thanks to a tip from Julianna.
It’s now open to the public and shows promise to be one of THE jazz clubs to go to in Second Life. It’s open anytime of day but the best times are after 11am SL Time when live DJs are available and hostesses to make your stay a pleasant one. The club is enclosed in a glass atrium and features an elegant posh interior. Click the twin rainbow colored dance balls over head to get dancing pose balls that allow you to switch between your choices of dances or a romantic hug. Just hop on the poseballs when they appear then click the over head balls again to get a menu to choose from popular slow dances. This new club looks wonderfully impressive and a welcome new addition to our over crowded favorites like Frank’s Place and Sweethearts. There is also a wonderful shopping mall that is located just across the bridge from the club to browse though the many popular shops that help make this new club possible. Enjoy!
An Excuse To Shop
Del and I have been going strong now for more than 7 months since we partnered. I love him as much then as I do now, perhaps even more so as we have grown even closer over time.
He admits to enjoying an attractive avatar so that gives me a great excuse to shop. I change clothing at the very least once a day, some times more so to give him variety to look at. Men are very visual creatures so I think this is important. I also enjoy the cheap clothing Second Life has…where else can you treat yourself to a complete outfit for an American dollar or less?
I want him to always be proud to be seen with me so I try to look my best always for him…after all…Del’s wife can’t run around in rags. I’ve covered my own wardrobe expenses except for some presents which I have always enjoyed because it means it is something he especially liked and that makes the gift even more special to me. I try never to be a “Material Girl” to him.
Del is one hot avatar himself and always dresses so perfectly for any occasion, I never have to say, “Babe, maybe you had better change?” He has perfect taste in clothing and I feel I am fortunate in that regard. He cares as much about his appearance for me as I do for him. Yes, appearance isn’t the be all end all. He did fall in love with me first while I was still in my newbie look but I think it has helped with our staying power. Girls, the avatar in your life be it male or female always gives you a great excuse to shop and that’s the excuse I’m sticking with. It sounds so much better than admitting I can be vain at times. *smiles*
Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Shop & Jazz Shopping Mall
Continuing with some coverage of Malls in Second Life, I found the Shop & Jazz Mall. Lots of stores more than I could easily count…I gave up too quickly, maybe but picked up still more new outfits for my bulging closets.
I often find new designers in Second Life in Malls so they are worth some effort to browse through. Most new designers start out with a small shop in a Mall somewhere in Second Life so it is where you can find the cutting edge of fashion design. Perfect for finding that new outfit everyone will ask where you got it from!
Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Scorpion Mall
I know I haven’t given much coverage of shopping malls in Second Life and I should when I find quality ones that catch my eye. Here is one I enjoyed this morning. The Scorpion Mall!
A great selection here and not hard at all to fill shopping bags very quickly. The stores were just brimming with shopping goodness on my visit. Guys, I did spot a few quality stores here for you too but yes still too few then I know you need, handsome ones.
Honey, I will need still more room for closets!
Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Cher’s Hair
Cher’s is a new hair boutique to me but I love what I see here. Lots of beautiful hair styles in very natural colors with good shine. A large selection to choose from and fly up to see even more! Permissions on these styles are Copy/Mod/No Transfer.
Laurel’s Picks of Places to Go – Venice Island
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Venice%20Island/154/146/22/
Looking to do some Second Life Sightseeing? Take a gander at Venice Island from a romantic gondola ride. Take one of the tandem bicycles for a ride or share a tender moment on the kiss balls by the fountain. Dance on the platform in the center of the square or browse shops in the Venice themed buildings. Venice Island is a relaxing atmosphere with much to see and do. Bring along your date or enjoy a nice tour solitude.
Laurel’s Picks of Places to Go – Avilion Castle Ballroom
Avilion Castle Ballroom is an enchanting place to take a date in Second Life. Hard to find one here as singles are rare. If you really want to impress…go here. I love the music selection here which is soft love songs including some celtic music that mingles in. The dress is quite formal with ladies in swirling ballgowns and dashing men in their best suits. Not only is it dancing but a good fashion show tossed in as well.
Del and I went for a dance here with our friends Rainbow and Gris. We took up postions on neighboring dance balls and chatted in open chat most of the evening tossing jokes and teasing back and forth. I had forgotten I snapped a picture there for a review that never got written so here it is now. The four of us can recommend dancing at the castle!
DJ Mike at the Underground Club
If you haven’t yet caught a set by DJ Mike Umaga at London’s Underground Club you should! He’s there 12-2 PM SL Tuesdays with 80’s ( the Flashback), Thursday 2-4 PM SL The best Trance ( The Trance~N~Dental Highway) and Saturday 12-2 PM SL Trance. You may have seen Mike in action at the Second Life 5th Birthday Party on Stage 2 or caught him as the closing act.
Due to RL time constraints DJ Mike only plays at the Underground Club so it’s YOUR place to see him. I admit I didn’t care for Trance before and used to stream my own music when Del wanted to listen to Trance but DJ Mike got me into Trance with his shows so I listen now and enjoy.
