DJ Mike at the Underground Club

If you haven’t yet caught a set by DJ Mike Umaga at London’s Underground Club you should!  He’s there 12-2 PM SL Tuesdays with 80’s ( the Flashback), Thursday 2-4 PM SL The best Trance ( The Trance~N~Dental Highway) and Saturday 12-2 PM SL Trance.  You may have seen Mike in action at the Second Life 5th Birthday Party on Stage 2 or caught him as the closing act.

Due to RL time constraints DJ Mike only plays at the Underground Club so it’s YOUR place to see him. I admit I didn’t care for Trance before and used to stream my own music when Del wanted to listen to Trance but DJ Mike got me into Trance with his shows so I listen now and enjoy.

WaterWorld Opens!

Regent Estates opened the WaterWorld sim today!  Yeah!  What does this mean?  If you have a boat, jetski or other watercraft in Second Life but really no good place to ride it at…come to the WaterWorld dock where you can rez your craft and go for a spin.  Waterworld now connects the MotorWorld and OceanView sims.  Thanks to Regent Estates for contributing this asset to the Second Life Community!

Regent Estates is also a great place to rent a shop, land or home from as well.  Contact Melody Regent in Second Life for details.  My Venice Beach location is rented from Melody so I can vouch for her as a top-notch Landlord.

Laurel’s Places to Go – DJ Liam’s Club Caribe

http://slurl.com/secondlife/CZESTATE%20Kuai%20LiiLii/112/147/21/

Now a fairly new club that you can add to your landmarks list.  DJ Liam’s Club Caribe is a delightful new place to go in Second Life.  It’s not big and impersonal but more cozy and intimate.  Always a place known for good music, as you walk in there are large couches for cuddling to either side of the doorway. The center amid the flashy lights is a cuddle rug and fire for relaxing.  To each side of the club you can find couple slow dances for your use and a kiss pose.  The far wall holds the DJ Booth from which LiamL Darwin works his musical magic, highlighted by a wall of moving water.

Stop in and join the groups to be notified when the club has events.  It’s an idea club to go to to avoid the lag of larger places that older computers can experience or to show off the latest gem of Second Life that you have found. If you are looking for a DJ to make your Second Life party or wedding complete or to add a new face to your DJ line-up, look up DJ LiamL Darwin for always a rocking time!

Two Left Feet Group

Ridcully Haggwood has started a new group for friendly people who think there is more to SL than Dance Clubs and pick up joints.  The goal is to establish a group of friends for chat and laughs without the pressure of other Second Life places.  There is an exclusive garden for use by members of the group.  IM Ridcully Haggwood or other group members in Second Life for an invite!  A great way to meet some new friends and enlarge your list of social connections!

Second Life Tip #8 Profile Pictures

If you resize your profile pictures to 768w and 512h, you can avoid that stretched look that you get with a 512w 512h picture.  You can save a picture from Second Life when you take it by picking the Snapshot to Disk option rather than Take a Snapshot from the File menu drop down at the top of your screen.  Open your picture in your favorite graphics program and resize it.  I like to sharpen it slightly too to make it more clear to see. You can jazz it up a bit too by adding text, if you like.

If you took a picture using a photo booth in Second Life, you can resize it too by opening the photo on your screen and pick Save Texture As from the File menu drop down at the top of your screen.  Once saved to your hard drive you can resize it as you would one you took yourself.
