Laurel’s Places to Go – Forest Feast

Nitram went off to RL work after his morning coffee and kiss, I went for a bit of a walk at Forest Feast.  Give it a chance to rez at the teleport point so you don’t take a fall. There is also a map there which will show you the layout of the gardens.  You can buy much of what you see on the sim from the shops near the teleport point to decorate your own home in SL  It’s a lovely large garden with so much to see and such a relaxing environment.  Lovely scenery and I saw several people rez aircraft or boats so you can explore that way too.  There are japanese gardens, rose gardens, fantasy gardens and fields of flowers to find.  I got lost for awhile in a tall field of grass but followed the sound of water to an amazing beach to watch a sail boat breeze by.  A nice place to relax and sight-see, do play a visit!

DJ Julianna

My friend Juliana is looking for more work as a DJ.  I’d love to promote her work as I think she does a wonderful job but the place she works for now only schedules her one day then has her fill in for other DJs that are not reliable the rest of the time, working 2 or 3 shifts most days.  She is funny and witty and long experience working as a hostess in SL.  It has been hard for her to build up any sort of following always DJing at the last minute with no promotion of her events at all because there is no time to do so.   I told her I could promote her gigs here if she had at least a few days of work she knew of in advance.  She has been working long hours during DJ School and since but all last minute work.  I suggested a DJ group which she did set up just last night to help when she does have to work with so little notice given. I think she needs to work at another location if she is to build up any sort of following though.  If you know of anything suitable, please let her know.

DJ School graduate with a month’s experience. Very knowledgable about music with some special mp3s direct from the artists, as well as a large music vault. Will not work at clubs with dancers but PG or Mature does not matter. Would prefer a set schedule so I can promote my events but longer term fill-in would also be desireable.

Dishing Dirt

I’ve always wondered why it is some people feel that because they had a prior friendship or relationship with the person you are now dating that you would want to hear all the dirt they can dish out on that person?  What useful purpose does that serve anyway?  It’s not like you can trust their very biased opinions and stories anyway as they quite obviously have an axe to grind or they wouldn’t be bothering you about it.  Often it is because they haven’t moved on or because they hope you will say, “Oh really?” and dump the person thus giving them some sort of twisted vengence. 

This has happened to me recently and to also a friend so there is a lot of it going around.  For me it has made me more committed to help support my beloved until this issue has passed for him.  I feel sorry that he has to go through this at all.  It’s hard to understand exactly, either I had wonderful exes or I prefer to to selectively remember the good moments for the most part?  For my friend, she has become very protective of her guy and has begun snapping back at his friends that seem to think she needs to know every detail of his Second Life which she is already aware of, as he told her himself.   Very seldom, I think you will achieve your goal if you are seeking to break up the new relationship your ex has.  More likely you will just bring them closer and make them stronger for having to weather the storm you have created for the two of them.  Being pleasant instead can leave that door open to be friends or get back together at a later date should that come to be.  Why burn all your bridges to the ground when being reasonable can make the change to seperate lives easier for both of you?

A Visit from Oliver Twist

This afternoon, I was relaxing on the patio while I worked in my graphics program and Rosa played with the toy ball Nitram had bought her.  She loves to hold the ball in her mouth and also bounce it against the side of the house to the find again.  I heard Rosa bark so switched windows to see just why, as she will bark if she sees someone closeby.  A young English lad was there on the patio looking at us.  An orphan I assume as he was dressed in a ripped tshirt and scruffed up tattered black leather pants.  Considering his pants were leather, I assumed he must have came from family of some means at one time.   The lost lad (his profile said 19) had been attracted to Nitram’s Union Jack flapping in the wind.  He was new he claimed (must have meant newly orphaned) and looking for others of his kind (his family mayhaps). 

The lad was polite and apologized if he had startled me at all…yes I did jump then locked the door to the house so I didn’t have to eject anyone.  He didn’t try to enter the house tho.  I gave him a landmark to a place where some of his countrymen can be found,  a shirt, a pair of pants (both without holes and new) and a cookie that I had inventory as Rosa likes them for treats.  He inquired about the two flags at our home and I explained that Sir Nitram had put them up to cover our two nationalties..his British and mine American.  He asked when my husband (didn’t correct him for safety reasons as to we aren’t married) might be about….I said, “Oh could be anytime now.”  in case the lad was dangerous but instead he thanked me for being so generous and teleported away. 

I do hope the poor orphan does find his family….perhaps someone in the London sim could be of more help than I was?

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – VKC Dog Park

I wanted to mention Rosa today.  She is the pet Labrador of Sir Nitram and I and is an absolute joy!  Nitram adopted her from the VKC Dog Park.  She’s a wonderful pet, very well behaved and can do so many things.  I have watched her play with her red ball, sleep in her bed, roll over, and always beg to be petted.  This morning, she alerted me to Sir Nitram’s arrival with a bark as she was as happy to see him as I was.  I can’t praise Rosa enough so if you are in the market for a real quality pet then pay the VKC Dog Park a visit as they might have just the friend for you.  They also carry a range of pet supplies and have a nice area to play with your animals in.

Laurel’s Places to Go – Pixel Hill

Nitram and I came across Pixel Hill when he was searching for some music we could enjoy together.  Yes, it was his find.  *smiles*  It’s not a huge venue as far as Live Music goes so it keeps a cozy feel like you would find at your local pub.  I rather liked that.  The building is made of stone and well weathered wood worn smooth by lots of dancing feet.  Both single and couples dancing is available at this venue.  At the door,  you can find a poster with upcoming events at Pixel Hill as well as a free concert HUD you can wear.  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Strayling/228/34/53/

Store Update – Mens Denali Sweaters

I managed to add 11 new sweaters to the Mens store like the Denali Sweater modeled in the picture by Darkenon Wirsing.  Also new is another Sweater and shirt combo in a new color “Nitram Pink ” which I am assured would blend right in and be considered quite stylish among the crowds on London trains.  Pink is an “in color” for men in the UK and one I must say I find flattering on most men. 

I’ve been working on the Mens store much more than the womens store lately as the demand is there as well as the sales.  The men want more selection and have been rewarding my work with sales so I would be a fool not to cater to them.   I’m behind on my blog posts but hope to catch up with that work in the coming days.   More to come!
