Happy Birthday Grace!

This morning we celebrated the birthday of our daughter Princess Grace Adamski at Cruise -Aiders.  Best wishes to Grace on her special day!  Sir Nitram and I are so very proud of Grace.  Music was provided by the amazing DJ Kaele Rhiadra with her hostess Julianna who work together Saturdays at 3AM there.  The Princess was looking especially lovely, as you can see above.  That is Cleo John the morning manager at Cruise – Aiders in the picture’s background, she does a wonderful club with that club keeping everything running smoothly.  We always have such a good time there together.  Sir Nitram and I have many friends at Cruise – Aiders and it is our morning place to be when socializing.

I learned from Julianna that the DJ Boot Camp and Host Schools at Cruise -Aiders have re-opened to train Second Life residents to DJ and Host in those skills.  You can get more information on that from the boards above the hostess stand.  If you are seeking to make some Lindens and have fun while doing so it is a great opportunity to learn new Second Life skills!  The DJs and Hosts at Cruise – Aiders do such a great job that it must be a great place to start!

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – VKC Dog Park

I wanted to mention Rosa today.  She is the pet Labrador of Sir Nitram and I and is an absolute joy!  Nitram adopted her from the VKC Dog Park.  She’s a wonderful pet, very well behaved and can do so many things.  I have watched her play with her red ball, sleep in her bed, roll over, and always beg to be petted.  This morning, she alerted me to Sir Nitram’s arrival with a bark as she was as happy to see him as I was.  I can’t praise Rosa enough so if you are in the market for a real quality pet then pay the VKC Dog Park a visit as they might have just the friend for you.  They also carry a range of pet supplies and have a nice area to play with your animals in.

Laurel’s Shopping Pick – Blackberries

I came across this shop in the afternoon and wanted to blog a bit about it.  It’s called Blackberries and has elegant evening wear as well as some shorter more casual skirts like the one I am wearing in the picture.  The skirts are modify and I had to adjust mine because I do have a bit of a bum.  If you are more slender than I am, the skirts should fit well right out of the box. 

A good selection of colors which I like to see, as I always find a single outfit that I wish I had in a few other colors.  There is a teleport to a reduced area upstairs but that seems to be unfinished yet at the time of this review as there are items up there not for sale or at 315L so check back on that later.

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Shiny Things Shoes

I know I have covered this store before because it is one of my personal favorites.  BUT…more shoes were added to the Reduced Room since my last visit and sculptie shoes from that room are a real steal at 100L per pair!  Like the Classic pumps shown next to me that go so perfect with that short flirty skirt or elegant ballgown.  Oh don’t wear boots!  Everyone wears boots and it’s not nearly such a good look as this is.   Ask any male avatar boots or sexy pumps and they will say the pumps because they show more leg then the clunky boots do. 

Guys, Shiny Things also has a line of mens shoes that are full of detail and are super sharp..not in the reduced room yet but perhaps in the future?

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Slash

Slash is a store many of us have visited before as it has been around in Second Life for quite some time.  It offers skins, shapes, clothing and shoes for both Male and Female Avatars.  It’s a big store to cover but you can use the convient teleport signs to get to what you wish to look at quickly.

The styles at Slash aren’t really to my normal tastes but everyone is different. I do own a few items from Slash tho.  They seem to specialize mostly in club wear and have a large collection of latex clothing.  If that is what you are looking for…Slash is a heaven to you! 

I noticed the shapes that I looked at were no Modify. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to make any changes to a shape purchased at Slash however if it is something you really love then no changes are needed.   There is enough of an assortment that you could find something you like as is.

Slash offers Newbie packages so you can refer Newbies there to shed their so obvious new look.  The newbie packs include skin, shape, outfit and shoes to get you started.  Slash also offers a free gift each month to both men and women if you join their store group.  You need only then to touch the sign in their store to get your free outfit.  Not a bad way to expand your Second Life wardrobe, especially if you are new.  Stop in for a look see!

SL Education – TUi NEO Building Projects

TUi NEO has a huge selection of projects that will allow you to learn some building skills while completing a usable object.  You can work at your own pace, at anytime, at a public sandbox or on your own land.  I’m sure you will find lots of things to work on here.  Beginners should look for level 1 projects and once you feel comfortable with those work up to some level 2 projects.  If a level 2 project proves too hard for your current knowledge, you can always save it till you have more experience. 

Short on Lindens?  Touch the Midnight Mania board each day and if the quota is reached…everyone gets the project FREE!  You can see me standing in front of the board now so you know what it looks like.    Building projects or kits can be a great way to learn some SL skills at your own pace or if the classes on the Events tab of search are unconvient for you.  Have a look around!

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Moonshine

Moonshine is a store that I came across while shopping at the Clothing Fair.  It’s new to me and might be to you as well so I thought it was worth a mention.  Moonshine has clothing for male and female avatars.  Yes, guys…a place you can shop too!  Hair for both men and women, some modifiable shapes for men, swimwear, casualwear, and even PJs!  A large selection and the prices are not sky high.  I walked out with several purchases and I bet you do too!

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Haute Couture

I stumbled upon this shop while searching for something else entirely but like what I saw so thought I would spread the word.  Haute Couture is a womens clothing shop with also a large section of hats.  If you are into hats..it’s a great place to shop.  A large selection here and the prices are surprisingly affordable.  Here I am looking over a new dress release called “Passion”.  Check out their lucky chairs while you are here and you might just get lucky!  The selection of evening gowns are just spectacular and there is also some cute casual fashions to be found.  Enjoy your shopping experience!

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – JE Republic

JE Republic caught my attention today as I was stalking their lucky chair for the wonderful dress now in their chair. (When it comes to Lucky Chairs if the product I see in the chair I want I will buy it without bothering with the chair.  However, if the product is not otherwise available…I’ll stalk it a bit and hope for the best before going on.)  This store offers womens hair, clothing, boots, eyes and accessories.  The prices are reasonable for what is offered, my only issue with the store is some of their clothing is displayed on hangers.  I know it looks more real but it does make it harder to see how the clothing looks on an avatar..if the shadows fall in the right areas, where the hemline really is etc.  Even I have a hard time paying Lindens for something I can’t really see well.  Fortunately, not all their selections are displayed in that manner. 

The lucky chair is attracting lots of attention with a flock of avatars around it.  Up the stairs is a selection of useful dollarbies.   The store is well worth a look see. Guys, I didn’t see anything here for you.  Sorry.

Laurel’s Shopping Picks – Harmony at MidMall

I came across this great store for men and women while walking around the mall my stores are in.  So just had to share it with you!  There are wedding gowns, formal suit, shoes, evening gowns and casual wear.  Guys, upstairs is where you will want to go to see most of the selections for you of casual wear and some swanky leather jackets of high quality.

I was impressed by the selection here, particularly of mens clothing which can be hard to find in Second Life.   The gowns and casual wear for women are also top notch.  Stop in for a look see and I’m sure you will also find some must have items like I did.
